Full Course Description:

Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other platforms have provided a framework that has allowed creators to produce a new form of media, “social media storytelling.”

This workshop will review current approaches in social media storytelling, strategies for creating effective social media stories, and opportunities around new and emerging platforms and tools.

Through analysis of exemplary recent work, discussion and hands-on creation, students will understand how fiction and non-fiction can intersect online, how communities have been activated by social media storytelling, how to merge modern design paradigms such as user experience with interactive storytelling, how to select an appropriate platform, and the changing business reality of the online marketplace.
