WORKS IN PROGRESS is a Hunter IMA MFA student-organized gathering that takes place on the first Friday evening of every month. It’s a low-pressure opportunity to connect and mingle with fellow IMA students, share work or ideas at any stage, and get feedback from peers. This provides the chance to engage in extended discussions about each other’s work, which may not always be feasible within the constraints of regular class time.
Works-in-progress can take a variety of forms, and you do not need to show anything audio/visual in order to present. When we say “work in any stage,” it includes everything from early ideas/concepts to refined projects—whether they’ve been in development for a long time or they are still in their infancy. It also includes projects undertaken both within and outside of classes. Names are drawn from a hat to determine the order of presentations. Each presenter has roughly 15-20 minutes to share and receive feedback. Whether you want to present a work-in-progress or you just want to listen and offer feedback, all IMA students are welcome to participate.
IMA students Shira Kresch and PJ Rountree started WORKS-IN-PROGRESS in 2023 and they co-produce the series with creative, tech and hosting support by IMA students Azia Egbe, Sabeena Singhani, Celeste Newcomb, Zoha Akhter and graphic design by A.J. Cincotta-Eichenfield and Shira Kresch
