IMA recent graduate is an Artist in Resident at New Art City

Multimedia artist and IMA student Luca Lee is a resident artist at New Art City whose residency offers funding and technical resources to artists with interdisciplinary practices in new and traditional media.

Luca worked on a three-part world titled ‘Metamorphis,’ which opened on December 12th.

From his post: “Luca is a queer transmedia artist from Chile based in Brooklyn, New York. Through extended reality, archive remix, 2D and 3D art, he creates hybrid spaces that both confront and interconnect different global narratives around resistance, otherness, and control, reverberating between geographic locations and time periods. Because his works navigate many places at once, they encourage an expansive method of thought that transcends temporal and cognitive dichotomies. Recently, Luca started expanding his research to AI-generated art tools to explore the possibilities and impossibilities of human-AI collaboration.

As of 2022, his work has been exhibited at IFP Center (US), Vasulka Kitchen Brno (Czech Republic), Radio 80K (Germany), Empirical Nonsense Gallery (US), GAM Center (Chile), Salvador Allende Museum (Chile), and The Holy Art Gallery (UK), among other non-traditional grounded and virtual spaces. He has been supported by the Chilean Government, New York Foundation for the Arts (IAP), Culture Push, and the Silver Art Projects’ Studio Residency.”
