Instructions for Students and Faculty to be Listed on the IMA Website

All Current and Alumni Students are invited to create Profile and Project pages on the IMA Website.  These pages are to be generated by students and faculty, but must be approved by the IMA site administrator before they will appear on the site.

PART I  – Register for the IMA Site – watch a video tutorial (combined with Part II)

  1. Go to the new IMA site and click the “Login” link.  That will take you to the login page.
  2. Click “Register” and enter a username and email address.
  3. You will receive a temporary email, awaiting verification from the site administrator.
  4. Once you are verified, you will receive an email with a temporary password.  If you haven’t received anything within 24 hours, check your spam box, or write to me (Dylan) or Gayathri with a request to verify your account.
  5. Log in through the Login Link with your new password.  You should be directed to your profile page.  You don’t have to enter anything here but if you enter your birthday we’ll say ‘Happy Birthday’ when it’s time.

PART II – Create a Student (or Faculty) Profile Page – watch a video tutorial (combined with Part I)

  1. Hover over “IMA Student Pages” on the left side of the screen and select “Add new”
  2. Complete your profile information – as much as you can or want to.
  3. You can link your profile to a project once you have created one of each (or more, and students can additionally link to their thesis project)
  4. Attach an image by clicking “Set featured image”, dragging an image into the field, then clicking “Set as Featured Image” and “Save all Changes” once the image loads.
  5. Tag/Categorize yourself as Alumni or Current Student (Faculty categorize themselves as Full Time or Adjunct).
  6. Click “Submit for Review” when you’re done.
  7. The site administrator will get a note and will publish your page within 24 hours.

PART III – Create a Project – watch a video tutorial

  1. If you’d like, you can create a project that will appear in the list of projects on the site.  We especially encourage students to document their thesis projects in this way, but if you have something else you’re working on that you want to share, this is a good way to do so.
  2. Hover over the “Projects” menu on the left side of the screen and select “Add New.”
  3. Complete the fields.
  4. You should only use the project slides area if you have only images.  If you are adding a video, you must add a featured image to set your video’s thumbnail
  5. Attach an image by clicking “Set featured image”, dragging an image into the field, then clicking “Set as Featured Image” and “Save all Changes” once the image loads. If you’re planning on uploading a video, paste the video code (E.g. the gobbly-de-gook numbers and letters in your youtube URL, ie if your video URL is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUEZCxBcM78  you must only enter GUEZCxBcM78 in the field
  6. Select your provider, or select “own Embed Code” to paste your own embed code from another service.
  7. If you want to set a featured image, which will appear in the project page and home-page slider, click “Set featured image”.  Drag and drop an image and when it loads, click “Set as Featured Image,” then, “Save all changes.”
  8. Select appropriate “Filters” for your project – these will allow users to find your project faster.  If you have a filter you’d like us to add, drop us a line.
  9. Make sure you hit the “Save Draft” or “Submit for Review” button when you’re finished.
  10. The site administrator will get a note and will publish your page within 24 hours.

Appendix: Adding a Featured Image

To add a featured image (which will show up as a thumbnail on the IMA home page as well as the “Projects” page), click the “Set Featured Image” link on the right hand side of the Project edit form:

A dialogue box will open inviting you to “Drop images here” or “Select files”

Drag your image into that area (or click “select files” and find your image through the browser).

It will take a minute to load, and then appear below.

Scroll down and click Use as Featured Image

Then click Save all Changes to return to your page.

Be sure to click the Save or Publish buttons when you finish to save/publish your changes.
