Victoria Keddie will be talking about recent work created with E.S.P. TV, a nomadic TV studio that hybridizes technologies to realize synthetic environments and deconstruct the televisual for live performance.
Victoria Keddie is an artist working within cross disciplines of sound, video, installation, and performance. Keddie works with electronic sound and video composition and choreography. Of interest are the fluctuations of electromagnetic activity, stereoscopic image and dimensional spaces, satellite debris and collision, image and sound synchronicity and collapse, time sensitivity, and the body in relation to the machine. Keddie is the Co-Director of E.S.P. TV. In early 2016, UNIT 11 was launched, a mobile transmission based studio and residency operated within an ENG news van. She is the founder and director of Optics Festival, an annual festival involving video based technologies and performance. In January 2018, Keddie will launch “Satellite Studio” in Garlock, CA, using a 10 ft C band satellite dish receiver to track LEO space debris for sonic compositions.
Keddie has an MA from New York University in Museum Studies with focus on Ephemeral Collections. She has a BFA from University of the Arts in Philadelphia and is a Mobility Fellow at the California College of Arts in San Francisco, CA. She has lectured and has been an invited guest artist at Columbia University, Carnegie Mellon University, Bennington College, Hunter College, Cranbrook Academy, University of Oregon, Eugene, PNCA, University of Colorado, Boulder, NADA Art Fair, Museum of Arts and Design, IMDA/ Electra Festival, Wassaic Project, and Studio XX, Montreal. Keddie taught a specialized course at Pioneer Works in Spring 2017 entitled, TV EYE that surveys the history of the artists’ appropriation, pioneering, and use of televisual video alongside studio practice with the medium.
Keddie has performed and exhibited internationally at venues and festivals such as, Fridman Gallery, The Swiss Institute, Pioneer Works, The Parrish Museum, The Kitchen, Museum of Moving Image, The Museum of Art and Design, Queens Museum of Art, and Anthology Film Archives (NYC), Human Resources (Los Angeles), Lightcone, (Paris), Syros International Film Festival (Syros, Greece), Studio XX (Montreal), LOOP Festival (Barcelona), Pallas Projects (Dublin), Reykjavik Arts Festival (Reykjavik), General Public (Berlin), Axis Art Centre (Crew), The Independent Film Festival (Naples), Liste Art Fair (Basel), Seeing Sound Festival (Bath), and Daimon (Gatineau). Keddie has been artist-in-residence at Wave Farm, Signal Culture, Pioneer Works, Storefront for Art and Architecture, and the Museum of Arts and Design.
