Full Course Description:

This production course explores how activists and artists employ the web browser as a platform for social engagement and as a creative medium.   Technically, students will  learn how to layout web pages, format text, and optimize images, audio and video to create multimedia sites.  Students will be familiarized with the core front-end web development tools – HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JavaScript Frameworks. Through a series of case studies and readings we will examine how user participation and global networks can be employed to question power structures, increase political action and create aesthetic environments.
