IMA Number: 783.10 | 1 credits

Course Type: Production

Professor: Scott Kiernan

This class meets Friday, February 5th 1pm-8:30pm and Saturday, February 6th 10am-5:30pm in 436 HN TV STUDIO

Full Course Description:

This workshop will focus on alternative video processing techniques which hybridize analog and digital formats. We will utilize unconventional techniques, and re-purpose equipment commercially seen as obsolete to radically manipulate the video image.

Together we will build from the ground up, a customized system for real-time image warping, feedback, and various forms of signal disruption. Throughout this buildout, we will discuss and demonstrate key concepts in understanding basic waveforms, the analog video signal itself and methodologies of signal routing. Learning these ground rules will also inform our breaking of them, as we work with the video signal in a uniquely physical way.
